Suspects in human trafficking case remanded until February 10 |04 February 2022
The eleven Iranians facing charges of human trafficking in connection with drug seizure onboard two leisure boats will appear in court on February 10, 2022 at 9am.
In court yesterday, they and three Seychellois suspects (only two were present) involved in the case, were further remanded in custody by Chief Justice Rony Govinden, after the state prosecutors had failed to provide the defence team with documents with amended charges beforehand.
The chief justice ordered that they hand in the documents today (February 4) or by tomorrow for the defence to build their case.
The eleven Iranians were arrested after Andy Bistoquet, who was reported missing, was found on their dhow outside our economic zone in November 2021. It came to light that Bistoquet was part of an exchange deal in relation to the drug seizure onboard the two leisure boats occupied by six Seychellois men. Charges have already been dropped on three of them.
