Male patients relocated to newly renovated female ward |30 November 2019

Male patients at the Seychelles Hospital will now be relocated to the newly renovated female ward while the male ward goes under renovation.

Currently the female ward is based at the Seychelles Family Hospital H.H. Khalifa Al Bin Zahyed at Perseverance.

“We are trying our very best to move construction as fast as possible for the comfort of our patients because they come first,” noted Dr Robert Michel, principal medical officer.

“When you’re renovating a hospital the first thing you must think of is the patients so we move the patients to different areas,” added Dr Michel.

“One of the biggest differences we have in this ward is that it is more conducive for our patients and our staff as well,” said Georgette Bertin, nursing manager of the ward.

She added that the previous ward was being affected by fungus and had little air flow which made the stay of patients very uncomfortable.

She also noted that the feedback they have been getting from patients are very positive.

Mrs Bertin called out for patients to maintain the ward as it is for the benefit of the entire country.

The main areas that have been fixed on the female ward are the roof, floors, ceiling and toilets.

The male medical ward will be completed by February or March next year.
