Finalising the draft dossier: A national quest for World Heritage status
The journey to becoming a Unesco World Heritage Site is long and meticulous. For Seychelles, it has been 15 years since work began on the nomination dossier for Venn’s Town to gain this prestigious status.
Now, with a draft nomination dossier for the Venn’s Town Cultural Landscape – fifteen years in the making – a dedicated committee is working alongside a team of international experts to finalise this crucial document.
The committee responsible for the draft comprises Julienne Barra, director general for Culture; Benjamine Rose, executive director of the National Heritage Resource Council; Berthilda Walter, principal heritage officer at the National Heritage Resource Council; Cheril Aglaé, committee secretary; Thérèse Jeremie, senior heritage officer and Cindy Onezime, researcher from the University of Seychelles.
