Indian community marks 79th Independence Day with flag-hoisting ceremony |16 August 2025

In honour of the 79th Independence Day of India, the High Commissioner of India to Seychelles held a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Palais des Sports, Roche Caiman, yesterday morning.

The event brought together members of the Indian community and guests to honour the occasion and reflect on India’s journey since gaining freedom on August 15, 1947. 

In his address, High Commissioner of India to Seychelles, Kartik Pande, extended his “heartiest greetings” and paid tribute to those who fought for India’s freedom.

“On August 15, 1947, India broke away from the shackles of colonialism and gained freedom. Today, we salute the bravery, determination and sacrifice of the honoured freedom fighters who earned us freedom. We also celebrate the remarkable progress and achievement of the Indian nation, after independence,” he said.
