Exploring ocean cultures: Prof. Rosabelle Boswell brings global research to Seychelles
Last Friday, Seychelles had the privilege of welcoming Rosabelle Boswell, a leading anthropologist and Research Chair in Ocean Cultures and Heritage, to share and reflect on the research outcomes of an IORA-funded study on maritime cultures in the Indian Ocean and Eastern African region.
Prof. Boswell presented a film entitled Entre Terre et Mer, produced to reflect the heritage research conducted in Seychelles, along with two books on maritime cultures in the Eastern African region: Quantum Coasts: Oceanic Worlds and Cultural Heritage in Africa (2026, Palgrave Macmillan, London & New York) and Coastal Worlds (2024, African Books Collective, Cameroon and New York). Both publications feature images and texts contributed by the people of Seychelles.
