Three deputy commissioners were formally presented with the gorget insignia symbolising their new rank and responsibilities by President Dr Patrick Herminie yesterday at State House.

Deputy commissioners Ned Wirtz, Dr Jemmy Bouzin, and Ron Bonnelame were officially commissioned and assigned to their duties during a courtesy call on the President. Commissioner of Police Godfra Hermitte was also present for the occasion.

The gorget serves as a distinguishing insignia within the Seychelles Police Force: two leaves for an Assistant Commissioner, two and a half leaves for a Deputy Commissioner, and three leaves for the Commissioner of Police.

During the ceremony, President Herminie emphasised the importance of discipline, integrity, and professionalism in maintaining public trust and ensuring effective service delivery.

He warned that misconduct and lack of integrity undermine confidence in the force and harm the wider community.

He therefore urged the newly commissioned deputy commissioners to foster a culture of accountability, ethical conduct, and professionalism across the organisation.
