The arrival of Starlink in Seychelles marks a major milestone in the nation’s digital transformation. The government has described it as the fulfilment of a commitment to improve connectivity, while the Seychelles Communications Regulatory Authority (SCRA) says the service will broaden consumer choice and sharpen competition.
Vice-President Sebastien Pillay confirmed that Seychelles now appears on Starlink’s global availability map, signalling the satellite internet service’s commercial launch. “If you look at the Starlink map, you can clearly see Seychelles is now in the available group. This was a sort of soft launch – people simply saw it happen overnight,” Mr Pillay said.
He added that an official launch is expected soon, with government officials working alongside Starlink to finalise arrangements.
