First Lady launches gallery honouring Seychelles’ former First Ladies
First Lady Véronique Herminie has made a historic and emotional gesture by unveiling a gallery of photographs of Seychelles’ former First Ladies in the boardroom of the Office of the First Lady. The initiative, aimed at preserving an important part of the nation’s history, has drawn widespread attention and praise, particularly on social media.
Speaking to Seychelles NATION, Mrs Herminie explained that the project stemmed from a desire to ensure past First Ladies receive the recognition they deserve.
“Many of the young visitors to our office only remember First Lady Linda Ramkalawan. They were unaware that Seychelles has had at least three other First Ladies who played influential roles, particularly in child protection. Each of them left distinct footprints on Seychellois history.”
She emphasised that with the establishment of an official Office of the First Lady, it is vital to preserve the historical narrative of national leadership.
