Dredger arrival marks reclamation milestone

The dredger and support fleet for Seychelles’ next land reclamation phase have arrived in local waters, bringing the start of works at Île Aurore a step closer. The project is expected to create more than 500,000 square metres of new land for future housing, infrastructure and economic development.

The equipment was transported aboard a heavy-lift carrier, which is currently anchored in Beau Vallon Bay. The bay was selected as a temporary offloading site due to the vessel’s size and the operational requirements of the unloading process.
