Donation of washing machine at Pointe Larue primary school
The District Governor of Lions International District 411A (Kenya, Ethiopia and Seychelles), Ambassador Simon Njoroge, visited Seychelles with his delegation from February 26 to March 1, 2026 for a series of official engagements and community service activities organised by the Lions Club of Seychelles, Melwin Jones Fellowship (MJF) club and the Seychelles Centennial Women’s Lions Club.
The Lions movement in Seychelles is led by Region Chair Lion Dhana Sasikumar and Zone Chair Lion Rajesh Pandya. The Lions Club of Seychelles is headed by Club President Lion Premila Bhrasadiya, the MJF club is led by President Lion Dr. Rangan Viveg, and the Seychelles Centennial Women’s Lions Club is headed by President Lion Swapna Akinapelly.
During his visit, Ambassador Njoroge paid a courtesy call at State House where he met with Vice-President Sebastien Pillay, and also held a courtesy meeting with the Minister for Health, Dr Marvin Fanny. These engagements reflected the strong partnership between the Lions movement and national institutions in supporting community development.
The visit featured several impactful service initiatives. Service in action followed:
- On February 26, 2026, ‘Africa Educates Her' programme at Belonie secondary school in collaboration with Lions Club of Seychelles, which included the T‑shirts handover by Lions Club, viewing of the campaign video, and student testimonials highlighting the impact of the campaign.
- On February 27, 2026, Seychelles Centennial Women’s Lions Club in collaboration with Pointe Larue secondary school organised eye screening for teachers to support their vision and overall well-being.
- On February 27, 2026, Lions Club of Seychelles donated a washing machine to Pointe Larue primary school to support hygiene and well being.
- On February 27, 2026, MJF Lions Seychelles donated refrigerator to the Paediatric ward in Seychelles Hospital which will aid in safe storage of vital medications and test kits, keeping our children safe and healthy.
- On February 28, 2026, The vice-president of the Seychelles rugby association Lion Kenneth Lawrence gave a tour of their well-developed facilities to the Lions delegation from Kenya and District Governor. The session led to interaction with active rugby enthusiast children, the coach, parents and the donation of snacks and beverages for a morning of training.
- On February 28, 2026, Blood donation drive organised by Lion Dr Viveg through MJF Lions led to 14 successful donors that will contribute towards saving the lives of up to 42 Seychellois.
Also, the board meeting with Lions Club of Seychelles MJF, and the Seychelles Centennial Women’s Lions Club members were conducted by each club. During these meetings, ongoing and upcoming service activities were reviewed and discussed, and new members were formally inducted by the District Governor, further strengthening the Lions movement in Seychelles. Senior Lions were also recognised for their longstanding dedication and valuable contributions to community service.
It was a truly meaningful weekend that showcased the power of partnership, compassion, and service. District Governor 411A (Kenya, Ethiopia, Seychelles) Ambassador Simon Njoroge extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the Lions of Seychelles for their exceptional hospitality, dedication, and tireless commitment to serving the communities.
