World Maritime Day commemorated with prayers and reflection
The Seychelles Maritime Academy (SMA), in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, commemorated World Maritime Day 2026 yesterday with a religious service that brought together members of the maritime community to reflect on the importance of the ocean and the people whose lives and livelihoods depend on it.
Held under the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) theme ‘From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence’, the service also provided an opportunity to remember the two Seychelles Coast Guard personnel who remain missing at sea.
