Anse Royale gets new gym |13 September 2013
People living in the southern regions are now enjoying a healthy lifestyle close to their homes, thanks to the initiative taken by an ambitious entrepreneur to bring a gymnasium to the district.
Jacques Alain Hoareau is the heart of this endeavour, as he came up with the idea to open a gym in the Anse Royale district in order to decentralise the service. The gym is located at the Anse Royale sports complex next to the University of Seychelles.
“The schools have been really supportive of the project as it provides students with a better way of passing their time in a positive environment rather than indulging in negative activities,” says Mr Hoareau.
The Goals Gym, as it is called, hosts a variety of equipment for the indoor gym, as well as hand built equipment made by Mr Hoareau himself in the outdoor gym area.
This is a good opportunity for the inhabitants of the southern region, as they do not have to travel too far from their homes to enjoy such facilities.
Schools may see this as the ideal way to prepare their athletes for various sports activities, since there are other facilities available in the area.
As Mr Hoareau owns another gym located at the Happy Youth Club in Victoria, he says any member of either one of these gyms can use the facilities at both locations.
“The gym also has a sport supplement shop and I am hoping to get the license to open a bar in the building as well,” he says.
Walking through the door of the indoor gym area, a variety of equipment greets you and the bright colours of the building itself exudes a vibrant energy around the room, which immediately sets you at ease to go about your business.
The outdoor gym is less sophisticated as all the equipment are not mechanised and the open air sets a different tone compared to the inside of the building.
The gym is open for 24 hours from 6.30am on Monday right to Saturday when it closes at 8pm. It re-opens on Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
Memberships fees are R500 for adults and R400 for students. For more information, the public can contact Mr Hoareau on 2783026.
