Council announces procedures for trades tax concessions for artists |12 March 2005
This follows the recent removal of licence fees for artists by the Seychelles Licencing Authority and is in line with President James Michel's announcement in his 2005 Budget Address of new incentives for the benefit of artists.
Individual artists and artistic groups wishing to benefit from the concessions need to register their applications through the National Arts Council.
"The recommendation of the council will become essential in ensuring that the concessions benefit genuine cases of artists who need the equipment for their trade," says a communiqué from the National Arts Council.
Examples of artists who can benefit from the concessions include musical bands, disc jockeys, art associations, solo performers, dance troupes. In general the concessions apply to groups and individuals earning a living through the arts.
The National Arts Council is informing artists that application forms to benefit from the tax concessions are available at its headquarters, near the Stad Popiler car park.
Artists may contact the National Arts Council for further clarification or telephone 295200.
