National Day-INS Trishul joins in celebrations |16 June 2005
The ship's crew will fire a gun salute during the National Day parade at Stad Linite on June 18.
INS Trishul is commanded by captain Sunil Edwin David who will call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Patrick Pillay, the Indian High Commission, Arun Kumar Goel, and the Chief of Staff of the Seychelles People's Defence Forces (SPDF), colonel Leopold Payet, during the ship's stay.
The ship will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Friday June 17.
INS Trishul is amongst the latest of the missile frigates of the Indian Navy having been commissioned into the Indian Navy on June 25, 2003.
The 3,700-tonne and 125-metre-long vessel is fitted with state of the art equipment and also incorporates stealth features. It has a top speed in excess of 30 knots and an endurance of 30 days at sea.
The ship carries a crew of 30 officers and 300 sailors.
Her last port of call was Cape Town, South Africa, and it will be heading to Port Louis, Mauritius after participating in the Seychelles National Day celebrations.
