Boxing-Coaches given specific responsibilities |20 June 2005

To avoid any kind of misunderstanding and going out of step, the Seychelles Amateur Boxing Federation (SABF) has decided to give all boxing coaches – Roland Raforme, Rival Payet, Jerry Legras and Alain Gilbert - specific roles.

All four coaches are members of the coaches’ commission headed by the country’s former heavyweight champion Raforme.
Raforme is also responsible for boxing development on Praslin and La Digue. His assistant is Alain Gilbert who is based on Praslin.

The country’s senior national team train under the supervision of head coach Rival Payet, while Jerry Legras’ task is to train the junior team.

Both Legras and Payet, former Seychelles light welterweight and light middleweight champions respectively, will have Raforme as assistant.

According to SABF chairman Hervé Anthony, “all coaches know exactly what they have to do. This way, we will be able to train more champions so that Seychelles will become the boxing powerhouse it used to be. This will also allow the SABF to grow.”
