NOAS – Olympic education-Anse Boileau and Anse Royale schools shine |18 August 2005
The participating schools were divided into different categories: P4-P6, S1-S2, S3-S4, S5 and post secondary.
In the Olympic quiz competition, Anse Boileau Secondary School defeated Anse Royale Secondary School to win the S1-S2 category.
The S3-S4 category title was won by the Anse Royale Secondary School, beating Plaisance Secondary School in the final. Anse Royale also dominated the S5 division, again defeating Plaisance.
The secondary graduates team comprising main speaker Colin Adrienne, Elvina Hoareau and Veronica Alphonse won the open public speaking competition with 258.5 points.
Runner-up was Praslin Secondary School with 252 points and third place went to Mont Fleuri Secondary School with 250 points.
There was a tie for fourth place with both Plaisance and Anse Boileau finishing with 246 points.
La Digue, Belonie, Point Larue and Beau Vallon were placed sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.
The prize for the best chairperson was won by Stephanie Duval of Mont Fleuri Secondary School with 61 points. Brigitte Lesperance won the best proposer of the vote of thanks title with 60 points and Colin Adrienne scored 134 points to win the best speaker award.
In the poem-writing competition held under the theme "Mass Participation", the participants competed in four categories.
Cascade Primary School's Amina Antat was the winner of the P4-P6 division followed in second place by Charani Walpola (Anse Boileau) and in third position by Jerma Owino (Bel Ombre).
The S1-S2 category was won by Isuru Walpola of Anse Boileau Secondary School.
Sheeren Dubel and Myvonne Naiken of Anse Royale Secondary School were placed second and third.
Vanessa Léon and Lianne Zelia of Anse Boileau Secondary School were first and second in the S3-S4 category with Christian Ng Ping Cheun (Anse Royale) finishing third.
Anse Boileau Secondary School again triumphed in the S5 category with Malshini Senaratne wining first place.
Praslin Secondary School placed two students in the top-three with Nadia Bédier and Vanessa Lesperance taking second and third places.
There was a special mention for Jennifer Denise of Anse Boileau Secondary School.
