SkyNet brings latest internet technology to Beau Vallon |17 April 2006
Equipped with nine 19-inch flat Liquid Crystal Definition (LCD) screens, cordless keyboards and mouses, the spacious internet café, located on the ground floor of Deeva's Complex at Beau Vallon next to popular Au Bon Valer supermarket, is already the centre of attraction for visitors and Seychellois alike.
SkyNet is the latest internet café to offer Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Kokotalk, a new telephone service over the Internet. According to a spokesperson from the company, the introduction of Kokotalk in one of the country's most developed tourism zone is having a major impact on the business, luring many visitors to the café in a day.
With Kokotalk, clients can make phone calls via the Internet through wireless and analogue phones (fixed lines) as well as send fax, both locally and internationally, at a flat rate of R3 per call – a rate which is now being enjoyed by many in the total comfort and privacy of a booth placed inside the café, but apart from the main computer hall.
From the comfort of their high-back chairs, each in its own little private corner, internet clients are also getting the best deal from SkyNet.
SkyNet is in fact pulling clients from as far as Le Niol, Bel Ombre and Glacis.
A spokesperson from Kokonet has commended the set-up at SkyNet saying that the facility is very spacious and in a convenient location, next to an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and shop. It is also in the vicinity of a fairly large parking area.
In addition to the internet café, another attraction at SkyNet is a DVD video rental, with a variety of latest releases.
Among the services offered at the café is internet browsing, downloading fax and photocopying services, CD duplicate, video cam, among others at competitive rates.
The fee for browsing the net is R10 for the first 15 minutes.
The business also plans to expand in the sale of hardware for computers and in on-line gaming in the near future.
SkyNet is open seven days a week from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.
