Football: Tri-Nation Tournament-Kassim’s brace gives Tanzania win |27 June 2006
The Club M ended the match with 10 men after Seychellois referee Gonzague Boniface red-carded Jerry Louis in the 77th minute apparently for dissent seconds after the Mauritian player had gone down inside Tanzania’s penalty area.
Kassim scored his first goal from the penalty spot in the second minute of play after Mauritius’ captain Gilbert Bayaram played the ball with his hand inside the penalty area.
Club M equalised through Reunion-based winger Kevin Godon in the 17th minute only for Kassim to net the winner two minutes later with a ground-level left foot shot.
Tanzania’s coach Mishindo Msolla told Sports Nation that Monday’s “match was quite tough but we expect a very good game against our hosts Seychelles on Friday.”
As for Club M coach Rajen Dorasami, he said that his team were “unlucky to lose and we hope to get a win against Seychelles on Wednesday.”
