Opposition leader at EISA symposium |08 November 2006
The theme of the three-day conference is 'Challenges for Democratic Governance and Human Development in Africa’.
According to a communiqué from Mr Ramkalawan's Seychelles National Party (SNP), the conference will cover several aspects of democracy such as elections, political institutions and civic society in relation to human development.
EISA is a non-governmental organization which aims to advance democratic values and practices and enhance the credibility of the electoral process in Africa and in the SADC (Southern African Development Community) region in particular. It has been involved in electoral system reforms, election monitoring and the strengthening of political parties and democratic institutions.
The conference will be addressed by a number of personalities from organizations and institutions with democratic development. Participants at the symposium are from SADC members and other countries in Africa.
