First CBS Governor Guy Morel passes away |10 November 2006

On this sad occasion, President James A. Michel has extended his condolences to the family and friends of Mr Morel.

The President has paid tribute to Mr Morel’s invaluable contribution in various fields in the development of his beloved Seychelles.

“Mr Morel will be most remembered for his work in finance after Independence, the promotion of our tourism industry, the creation of SIM, the setting up of Air Seychelles, the mobilization of funds for the construction of the impressive National Library building at Esplanade, the education of our youth, and his love of classical music and literature,” President Michel said.

“I have known Mr Morel as a close friend and work colleague. He was a true Seychellois patriot.

I am saddened by his demise. We shall all miss him,” the President added.
