Golf-Moncherry lifts November Barclays Mug |02 December 2006
The weather, by and large, was hot and humid, with the few occasional suggestions of a breeze failing to cool down the sweating competitors. Most of the scores, however, were not so hot, with only three golfers managing to break 70 net. After the first nine holes, it looked like whoever played the least bad golf would win.
The best front nine net scores were not even level par, Francis Mondon drawing first blood with 34 net and Peter Moncherry being the only other player to match his 1 over par score.
Mondon finished his 18 holes with a fairly consistent 35 net for a total of 69 net. He seemed to be comfortable enough with that, until Robert Savy walked in with a great back nine of 31 net to equal Mondon’s effort, but in fact beating him on the count-back.
Club captain Peter Moncherry, playing in the second last group, turned the tables on the leaders with a superb endeavour of 33 net to surpass them with a total of level par 67. He received his Crystal Mug from Dinaz van der Lans of Barclays Bank.
Robert Savy finished second and Mondon third.
Club captain Moncherry thanked the sponsors for their continued support of the club and the game of golf in Seychelles.
