International Friendship League-Celebrating a decade of existence |05 May 2007

The organization, which started with only 17 members with the current chairperson, Marie-Nella Azemia, being its initiator/founder, currently has a membership of 54.

“During these ten years, IFL has matured as a group, achieved its goals and its members have definitely benefited from the various activities held both locally and internationally,” says Mrs Azemia.

Among those activities are exchange visits, attendance at international assemblies, developing penfriend contacts, participating in cultural exchanges, welcoming and hosting Peace Boat passengers, charity missions in Nairobi, friendship picnics and discos, dinner dance, friendship camps, fundraising activities such as sponsored walks, charity request programmes and educational meetings and workshops.

To mark a decade of the organisation’s existence, IFL members will today visit the maternity ward and the North East Point hospital. Later this evening, founding members will be presented with awards during a dinner at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Hotel.

Other activities planned for this occasion will be the launching of the first issue of the organisation’s newsletter, as well as the launching of an IFL song.

IFL partners will also be rewarded with certificates of appreciation.

Meanwhile, Mrs Azemia is availing of the opportunity to thank all partners who in one way or another have contributed towards the realization of the organisation’s numerous goals and objectives.
