Solanna Domingue, Miss Seychelles Islands 2007Domingue received her crown from the outgoing Miss Seychelles Islands 2006, Wendy Boniface.

Besides the official crown, Domingue took home a cash prize of R20,000; an Air Seychelles’ ticket to any destination; a Kenwyn House gift voucher; jewellery sponsored by Daniel Monthy, a local designer with a popular design line; a weekend for two at the newly opened Labriz Silhouette Resort; dinner for two at La Scala Restaurant and free entrance for a year at the Lovenut Nightclub and Disco. She will also carry out community and charity work at national level in a calendar of events organized by the organisers and the different public and private sectors.

Already well known for her volleyball prowess before she was crowned Miss Seychelles Islands on Saturday night, Domingue said in an interview afterwards that she’s going to use her favourite sport “to urge fellow youths to do something positive with their lives”.

Second to Domingue in the beauty contest on Saturday was Praslinois Claudia Godley, who also clinched the Miss Personality title. As First Princess, Godley received R10,000 and an Air Seychelles ticket to Singapore as well as a number of vouchers.

The Second Princess on the night was 24-year-old Cheryl Dias, who pocketed R5,000, an Air Seychelles ticket to Mauritius and a number of vouchers.

Other special prize winners of the contest were Rachel Scolastique, who received the prize for best gown and Betty Michel, who won the honors as Miss Photogenic.

Besides the first three winners, the other finalists of the contest after the preliminary round were Betty Michel, Charlotte Lepathy, Tracy Dick and Cheryl Dias.

Twelve contestants in all vied for the Miss Seychelles crown on Saturday.
