Indian Coast Guard ship calls |03 September 2007
A press release from the ship said that while here, the vessel’s crew will seek to strengthen India’s relations with Seychelles in the fields of maritime search and rescue operations, maritime pollution response and anti-piracy efforts.
The 102-metre-long ship will be open to the public today from 3.00 to 6.00 p.m.
ICGS Samar is the first of AOPV (Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel) class, which was formally inducted in Indian Coast Guard on November 2, 1995.
Built by the M/S Goa Shipyard Limited, Goa, the ship is based at Mumbai under the operational and administrative control of Commander Coast Guard Region (West).
ICGS Samar is under the command of Dy Inspector General Rajan Bargotra, a postgraduate in Defence and Strategic Studies from Madras University, India.
