Seychelles – China-Ambassador Le Gall visits Tianjin |12 September 2007
Located less than 150 km South-East of Beijing, Tianjin has become a well-developed hub with a sea-land-air transportation network and it is seen as one of the main centers of commerce, trade, advanced technology and finance in North China.
During his visit, Ambassador Le Gall met with the secretary general of the People’s Government, Mr He Rong Li, and both sides agreed that substantial avenues of cooperation exist between Seychelles and Tianjin in the fields of tourism, fisheries and education in particular.
As part of a series of familiarization visits to Universities where Seychellois students are presently enrolled or could be enrolled in future, Ambassador Le Gall also called on the President of Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE), Mr Meng Quingguo.
It is to be noted that TUTE is one of the most successful Chinese institutions of higher education, in its respective domains of expertise.
Mr Meng Quingguo also expressed interest in having further discussions with the Embassy on the way TUTE and the Seychelles University could cooperate.
Ambassador Le Gall completed his visit to Tianjin with several separate meetings and presentations on Seychelles’ economy and development, attended by representatives from the local fisheries industries and the main local travel agents.
