Athletics-ITO Rousseau at World Athletics Final

The World Athletics Final is to take place on Saturday and Sunday September 22 and 23 inside the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium which hosted the fourth edition of the IAAF World Championship in Athletics in 1993. The stadium’s eight-lane track has been resurfaced for the event.

A total prize purse of US $3,020,000 will be paid by the IAAF at this weekend’s IAAF / VTB Bank World Athletics Final in the 36 events on the programme.

The prizes are 1st US $30,000, 2nd US $20,000, 3rd US $12,000, 4th US $7,000, 5th US $5,000, 6th US $4,000, 7th US $3,000 and 8th US $2,000.

Athletes competing in 1,500m, 5,000m, 3,000m, 3,000m steeplechase who finish from 9th to 12th places will receive prize money of US $1,000 each.

There is a world record bonus of US $100,000 for any athlete who surpasses a world record.
The entry list of the IAAF / VTB Bank World Athletics Final (WAF) was decided according to the World Athletics Tour (WAT) standings. The top seven athletes with the greatest number of points from their five best results (four for throws) have qualified for each event of the World Athletics Final. For races of 1,500m and over, 11 athletes have qualified. The IAAF reserves the right to invite a maximum of one wild-card athlete per event.
