Chief Justice Alleear resigns |01 February 2008

Accepting the resignation with regret, President Michel thanked Justice Alleear for his many years of loyal and dedicated service to the judiciary and to the people of Seychelles, a communiqué from the Office of the President said.

Mr Alleear served the judiciary in Seychelles for some 30 years, starting as a counsel with the then Law Centre. His first appointment as head of the judiciary was in May 1993 when he became acting Chief Justice.

Upon the recommendation of the Constitutional Appointments Authority (CAA), President Michel has appointed Judge Andrew Ranjan Perera as acting Chief Justice.
