Fuel prices adjusted |04 March 2008

The price of petrol (bennzin) went down by 50 cents per litre while there was an upward adjustment for cooking gas by R1.50 per kilogramme, according to a press release from the Ministry of Finance.

“Despite some lowering of the world fuel prices for a short period during January 2008, fuel prices at the end of February returned to their peak, and as result, the retail price of fuel for the next three months remains very much the same as in the past three months.

“Due to a slight reduction on the landed cost of MOGAS, it has been possible to reduce the price of petrol by 50 cents to R11.50 per litre,” the communiqué says, adding that although the price of diesel has increased slightly over what it was previously, the price locally has been kept at R12 per litre.

The press release gives current prices per litre of other fuels as R12 for kerosene, R15.50 for AVGAS, R8.60 for JetAl and R8.00 for fuel oil.

“Due to further increasing gas prices, the price of LPG has increased by R1.50 per kilo to R13.50 per kilogramme,” the press release says.
