New Eden Island homes set to bring in $150m

The 87 apartments, 55 “maisons” and 17 villas are set to be completed by the end of this year. The company has already taken US $166 million from the sales of units built earlier.

Figures show South Africans have so far bought 53% of the units on sale on Eden Island, followed by the UK, France, Netherlands and Belgium with 14% between them.

According to sales and marketing representative Peter Smith, the money from the sale of the homes will be used to continue with developing the island.

“It is for that reason that the business centre has not yet been built – we are waiting for the revenue from the sales of the houses first,” he said.

Forty-seven villas have been sold so far, earning Eden Island US $63 million, and the 143 apartments sold have brought in a further US $68 million.

The developers are still building Anse Tec Tec, a beach that will look like many others in Seychelles. White sand is being brought on to the site, as well as boulders and palm trees, to recreate the natural look.

Most of the landscaping work on the island has been completed, although the developers say there are some final touches that need to be added.

The homes on Eden Island are equipped with everything the owner might need when moving house, such as furniture, kitchen equipment and even bed linen. Each unit also has an electric-powered vehicle as a means of getting around the island, which has a no-car policy.
