Passing of Seychelles’ honorary consul general in Greece-Foreign minister sends message of condolence |08 July 2008

Mr Pillay’s message, addressed to vice-consul general Loucas Ellinas, reads:

“Serving as honorary consul since August 1997, appointed as honorary consul general on January 31, 2000, Mr Ellinas was a prominent businessman and longstanding consul general who nobly served Seychelles throughout his 10 years in office.

“He will be remembered for his countless contributions to the government and people of Seychelles, notably for his generous donation to the National Emergency Disaster Fund set up by President James Michel in the aftermath of the tsunami that devastated southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean on December 26, 2004.

“In this moment of grief and mourning, the government and people of Seychelles join me in expressing our heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences to the family of the late Mr Ellinas.”

Mr Ellinas passed away on Saturday July 5, 2008.
