Seychelles wins high praise in travel awards |20 September 2008
Seychelles won recognition in two categories, the Best Islands and the Best Overseas Leisure Hotels for 2008.
For the Best Islands Award, readers chose the best the travel world has to offer from a list of 20 island destinations.
Maldives came first and the Greek Islands second. Seychelles was voted into fifth place with a score of 91.09 out of 100, close behind Barbados with 91.75 and Mauritius on 91.88.
The icing on the cake was the readers’ vote showing that nowhere else in the world can you find such picture-perfect scenery – Seychelles had an amazing 100 mark in this section.
For the Overseas Leisure Hotels Award for Middle East, Africa and the Indian Ocean, North Island came fifth with a score of 92.03 and Denis Island gained 78.52 points to be ranked 19th.
Each category was judged according to a set of criteria, including service and value for money.
