Football-Mathiot promoted to Fifa instructor |14 January 2009
As a football instructor, Mathiot trains people worldwide to become coaches and instructors.
He has been asked by Fifa to run a week-long MA coaching course in Gambia in March.
Mathiot became a Confédération Africaine de Football (Caf) instructor in 2004 and has held coaching instructors’ courses in countries including Cameroon, Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Libya and Tanzania.
According to Mr Mathiot, when he was running a course in Tanzania in December last year, he was asked to submit his qualifications to Fifa and a month later he received an invitation to run the course in Gambia.
“It is a really great achievement for me and for Seychelles,” he said. “All my life I wanted to be a Fifa instructor and now I have actually made it among the elite of football coaching worldwide.”
He added that he is confident he will succeed in his new role, although he is expecting to meet some setbacks because Seychelles is not properly equipped for some of the research and tests he might have to carry out in his new line of work.
