He succeeds striker Philip Zialor, a three-time winner of the title, who left St Michel in August to join La Digue-based Anse Reunion.

This year’s runner-up is utility player Geal Jessinghaus of Barclays league division one champions La Passe, and teammate Achille Henriette has finished third.

The women’s best player of the year is defender and captain Vanessa Dick, who lifted four trophies as United Sisters enjoyed a dream 2009 season, make a clean sweep of all the titles on offer – Land Marine Cup, league title, Patron’s Cup and Federation Cup.

Dick has now taken over as the best player from teammate Vesna César. The midfielder first won the title in 2005.

Marcus Maria of the Young Pirates team is the young male player of the year.
The winners will be rewarded during a gathering on Saturday December 19 at the Maison Football.
