Top Czech TV series on film tour of Seychelles |23 January 2010
On the Road is a popular documentary series with ratings of one million viewers – a quarter of the country’s total.
The dinner at the Marie-Antoinette restaurant was a welcome for the group, which includes two prominent Czech TV personalities, Jiri Bartoska and Miroslav Donutil.
They have been touring and filming the islands for 10 days and generally familiarising themselves with the destination.
The dinner was also attended by Margrita Fuchsova, the Czech ambassador accredited to Seychelles, and local doctor Dr George Panovski, who is of Czech origin.
The itinerary has taken the On the Road team to prominent sites on Mahe including State House, Mission Lodge, Copolia, Cap Ternay, Port Launay, Victoria Market and Kenwyn House. They will also take in certain underwater sites where they hope to film.
On Praslin, they visited the Vallée de Mai and took a trip to Felicite island, from where they took a scenic flight as far as the Lemuria golf course, where several members of the group stated their intention to return soon for a private golfing holiday.
From there they went on to La Digue for a tour of the vanilla plantation and also spent some time at Anse Source d’Argent.
The On the Road trip around the inner islands has also included interviews with conservationists, local artisans and others, all designed to present a well-rounded profile of the islands to viewers back home.
The crew’s visit to Seychelles and their reportage on the islands are expected to help make inroads for Seychelles tourism in the Czech Republic and cultivate it as a potential new market for visitors.
Seychellois Barbara Panovska, daughter of Dr Panovski, accompanied the delegation on their tour.
