US to help Seychelles combat illegal fishing |23 June 2010
US ambassador to Seychelles Mary Jo Wills said this yesterday after she called on President James Michel at State House.
“We have prospective programmes with our two coast guards to interdict illegal fishing, which we expect to discuss in August,” she said.
Mrs Wills, who is based in Mauritius, said her talks with the President also focused on continuing programmes aimed at ensuring regional security and countering piracy in the Indian Ocean region.
They also talked about ongoing trade and development cooperation between Seychelles and the US, she said.
