President makes return visit to Anse Etoile |12 November 2010

He was accompanied by district administrator Aselma Pilate and Housing Finance Company chief executive Charles Bastienne.

The President has received many letters from families after his first visit to the district last month.
Residents asked him to visit them in their homes and address some of the issues they are facing.

“Anse Etoile is a large district that is developing fast, and we need to look into the opportunities for housing development where land and resources are available,” Mr Michel said yesterday.

During this visit he was able to see that many families are seeking to renovate and rebuild their homes, and that there is an increasing housing demand in the district.

“When I receive such a great response from the residents, I cannot ignore their calls for consultation,” he said.

“These community visits give me an opportunity to see the way that people around the country are living and to hear, face-to-face, the aspirations and dreams of the people.”

Residents also spoke to the President about the need for new roads, as well as new bus services in some parts of Anse Etoile.
