Visit to cruise ship captain keeps up ‘people-centred’ approach

The Seychelles delegation on their visit to the cruise ship’s captain

Along with Captain Jean Attala of the Seychelles Coast Guard, they presented Captain Jorn Gottschalk with a book on Seychelles by Michael Friedel, Gilbert Pool's book of photographs and verses entitled Nou, as well as the cultural tourism music CD Sesel Sa.

The Seychelles delegation was accompanied by Hans Niebergall, president and chief executive of the South Asia and Africa Regional Port Stability Cooperative, and other staff of the ports authority.

The Columbus is owned by the Hapag-Lloyd shipping line, which has supported Seychelles with an increased number of its cruise ships making a stop here.

Seychelles is now stepping up its marketing activity to ensure more cruise ships call here, and more joint marketing projects between the SPA and the STB are expected to be carried out during 2011.
The special Seychelles welcome for ships’ captains was an initiative of Lt Col Ciseau that was welcomed by Mr St Ange, and both authorities have agreed to keep it going as it is people-centred and in line with the Seychelles Brand of tourism.

Seychelles is an ideal stop for cruise ships, with many possible calling places because of the diversity of its islands. The country also enjoys a year-round summer, making a port call interesting and enjoyable at any time of the year.
