Badminton-Four gold medals for Seychelles

Seychelles’ medallists – Paulin, Malcouzane, Course, Camille, Jupiter and Cupidon

In the all-Seychellois affair men’s singles final, Georgie Cupidon defeated compatriot Steve Malcouzane 2-0 (21-13, 21-13) to win the gold medal, while in the ladies’ singles, Cynthia Course beat Shama Aboubakar of Mauritius 2-0. The set scores were 21-16 and 21-16.

Cupidon and Malcouzane teamed up for the men’s doubles and in the final they beat Olivier Fossy and Didier Nourry of Reunion 2-1 (21-18, 17-21, 22-20)

Seychelles’ fourth gold medal came courtesy of Alisen Camille who paired up with Course in the ladies’ doubles final which was again an all-Seychellois affair. They won the final 2-0 (21-9, 21-14) against Katherina Paulin and Danielle Jupiter.

In the mixed doubles, the Cupidon and Camille duo had to settle for the runners-up position and silver medal after losing 0-2 (21-23, 18-21) to Kiran Baboulall and Shama Aboubakar of Mauritius .

Seychelles also won three silver and three bronze medals in the individual event. The silver medallists are Malcouzane (men’s singles), the Paulin and Jupiter duo (women’s doubles) and the Cupidon and Camille pair (mixed doubles).

Women’s singles winner Course

Camille and Paulin won a bronze medal each in the women’s singles and the pair of Malcouzane and Course clinched the other bronze in the mixed doubles.
