Cable Tunes Award nominees known |14 December 2013
Cable & Wireless has announced the nominees for this year’s Cable Tunes Award.
The Cable Tunes Award has now become an annual event whereby the public votes by SMS for the best locally composed songs used as ring tones for the telecommunication company’s mobile clients. The award is also part of an ongoing campaign in support of local artists known as ‘Siport artis lokal, aste orizinal’ (support local artists, buy original albums).
The nominees were announced during a cocktail evening at La Plaine St André last week and the public can already vote for their favourite artists or songs.
In a short speech, Cable & Wireless chief executive Charles Hammond said his company has long been associated with the music industry.
He recounted the story of three young Seychellois who in 1943 successfully set up a radio station on the premises of the Cable & Wireless station in Victoria.
Mr Hammond noted that the company has since gone a long way with Cable Tunes representing innovation, passion and Creole identity.
He feels that with the initiative, the company has created customer excitement and taken their experience to new heights.
Mr Hammond was thankful to the Cable Tune sponsors, namely Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), ISPC, La Plage Restaurant, Air Seychelles, Takamaka Bay and Tequila Boom.
The Cable Tunes Award ceremony will be held on December 27 at the Tequila Boom Discotheque and prizes will include album recording and studio time for the lucky winners.
