Swimming:Young swimmers benefit from overseas training |14 February 2014

Two of Seychelles’ promising young swimmers – Felicity Passon and Adam Viktora – received their travel documents on Wednesday ahead of overseas training camps.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday afternoon at the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga) office and it was Socga president Antonio Gopal who presented them with their tickets.

Seychelles Swimming Association (SSA) chairman Kenny Roberts and swimming coach Paul Fanchette were also present.

Female swimmer of the year Felicity Passon, who was ranked second to Young Female Athlete of the Year Romentha Larue, left the country yesterday for South Africa where she will be training for a month at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.

She will be accompanied during her first week by coach Fanchette who will return to the country on February 20. Passon is expected back on March 13.

Chosen as Young Male Athlete of the Year 2012, Viktora will leave Seychelles on February 20 and will be spending almost three months training in Jacksonville, Florida, United States of America, at the Bolles School of Swimming and Diving.

He will return on May 18 to join the Seychelles team for the African Youth Games in Gaborone, Cameroon.
