Athletics: Special Events Final competition |26 February 2014
Lou-Toy, Azemia record breakers
After setting two new records the week before, Joanne Lou-Toy was at it again in last weekend’s Special Events Final competition at Stad Popiler where she improved the women’s senior 60m sprint record.
The old time of 7.4 seconds was set by Lou-Toy herself the previous weekend (February 14, 2014) and she improved it to 7.3 seconds on Saturday.
Ned Azemia, who set a new 600m youth record on February 14, 2014, again shattered a record, this time it was the 35.4-second 300m youth record held by Evans Flore since March 2000. The new record now stands at 34.9 seconds.
The overall top three athletes in each category and event were rewarded for their efforts at the end of the Special Events which athletes use to fine-tune their techniques before they line up for normal events that feature on the Seychelles Athletics Federation calendar.
