Marie Louise special prison gets dental chair |28 March 2014

Private dental service Medent has donated a ‘KAVO’ dental chair to the special prison on Marie Louise.

The dental chair was handed over to a representative of the Seychelles Prison Service, Father Brian Volcère, who is also a counsellor at the Montagne Posée Prison, by Dr Harold Pothin, dental surgeon and former chief dental officer and consultant in charge of oral health services at the Ministry of Health.

Dr Pothin was standing in for Dr José Souyave, proprietor of Medent Dental Services.

Handing over the valued item at the Medent Dental offices at Le Chantier, Dr Pothin said it was a pleasure on behalf of Dr Souyave’s dental office here in Seychelles to present the chair which will be of benefit to the Marie Louise special prison clinic.

In a telephone conversation with a representative of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Transport, Dr Souyave – who currently has a dental practice in the United Kingdom – said he was personally very pleased that the donation has materialised.

The chair and supporting items will be prepared in the coming weeks for shipment to Marie Louise where it will be installed and made ready for consulting dentists at the special prison.

Also present at the hand-over ceremony was Gemma Joubert, general manager at Medent Dental Services, who expressed her delight at the opportunity to help the clinic at Marie Louise with this particular item.

The Marie Louise special prison is a new facility which has recently become operational and caters for persons who have been sentenced for drug offences primarily.
