Athletes receive air tickets for overseas competitions |11 April 2014
A number of athletes were presented with their travel documents for various destinations during a small ceremony held at the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga) headquarters at Stad Linite, Roche Caïman, on Thursday afternoon.
The athletes come from boxing, badminton and athletics and will all be heading to different countries either for training camp or competition.
Boxers Jovet Jean, Andrique Allisop and Keddy Agnes will be heading to Limassol, Cyprus, to take part in the International Limassol Boxing Cup from May 13-20. They will be accompanied by coach Rival Payet.
The competition is reserved to elite senior male boxers and elite women of the Olympic weight categories of 51-60-75kg.
In athletics, two groups of athletes will be traveling. The first group consisting of Neddy Marie, Dean William and coaches Joseph Adam and Alexandre Rodriguez will travel to Mauritius for a training camp and afterwards take part in an international meet in the same country. They will leave Seychelles on April 25.
The other group of athletes will travel to Pretoria, South Africa, where they will take part in a training camp at the High Performance Training Centre. Anissa Emile and Ned Azemia are the two athletes chosen for the trip from April 29 to May 18 and they will be accompanied by coaches Giovanni Fanny.
The badminton team heading to Botswana for the African Badminton Championship comprise Alisen Camille, Chlorie Cadeau, Kervin Ghislain, Steve Malcouzane, Juliette Ah-Wan and Georgie Cupidon.
Cupidon’s airfares have been paid by the National Sports Council.
Coach Calix Francourt will accompany the players and the delegation will leave on April 22 and return on May 1.
