CBS launches own data portal |08 May 2014

The Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) has launched its own data portal giving the general public a better understanding of its operations and enhancing their ability to make informed economic decisions.

This is an extension to the Seychelles Interactive Statistical Data Portal launched by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in November last year.

In a short ceremony at the Central Bank of Seychelles last Friday, Mr Shamputa, a representative of Prognoz, the company which was awarded the contract to design the portal, made a presentation on the main features of the CBS data portal.

When she officially launched the portal, CBS governor Caroline Abel expressed her wish that “the data portal project will succeed in enhancing access to CBS data which will in turn enable the general public to have a better understanding of the CBS operations and enhance their ability to make informed economic decisions”.

The CBS data portal is part of the vision of the African Development Bank (AfDB) to enhance statistical capacity across the African continent.

To achieve this goal, the institution has initiated the Interactive Statistical Data Portal Project. The project has been developed in response to the increasing demand for statistical data and indicators relating to African countries.

The data portal is an interactive tool that enables users to access various online data, information, and publications.
