Suspect arrested minutes after theft on Independence Avenue
The police reacted swiftly late last week and apprehended a 39-year-old male suspect from Pointe Larue who had stolen a Samsung digital camera valued more than 700 euros for a visitor in town.
The theft happened at the Digital Life Style Shop on Market Street where the suspect who was around noticed that the visitor had forgotten his camera at the shop. At the time of his arrest minutes later on 5th June Avenue the camera was still in his possession.
The quick arrest was thanks to help received from an ex-officer who witnessed the theft, informed the police, tailed and guided his former colleagues straight to the suspect.
The suspect appeared before the Magistrate Court last Friday and has been remanded until today when he will re-appear before Court.
Gestures like that of the ex-officer is in line with Crime Stopper Initiative and is exactly the type of cooperation the police need if we are to curb crimes and render our communities safer and more secure to live in.

Alfie Simeon died of natural causes
The police have reported that post mortem carried out on the body of Alfie Simeon, the 50-year-old man of Maldives, medically revealed that he died of natural causes.
Mr Simeon was reportedly found by his uncle at his home not responding at around 8.30pm on Tuesday January 27, 2015.
