Local fighters on international mission as new Russian coach arrives |05 February 2015
Newly crowned Sportsman of the Year Andrique Allisop and fellow boxer Keddy Agnes who was ranked third overall for the supreme title will leave soon for Sofia, Bulgaria to follow a month-long training camp.
The two local boxing powerhouses will leave on February 9 accompanied by coach Gerry Legras, himself a former Seychelles champion.
They will be joined by Dave César, Alva Botsoie and Kitson Julie in Sofia on February 23. Voted best coach for the year 2014, Rival Cadeau will accompany the three boxers to Sofia.
Allisop (60kg), Agnes (91+kg), César (56kg), Botsoie (69kg) and Julie (81kg) will also take part in the 66th International Boxing Tournament Strandja 2015 which will be held from February 23 to March 1 in the city of Sofia.
Meanwhile, Russian Alexey Paramokhin is the new boxing coach working with local fighters ahead of many international competitions this year.
The Russian coach arrived in the country on January 28 under the Society of Friendship with Seychelles.
With six years experience as a coach, the former 60kg weight category boxer, studied at the Education, Nizhny State Pedagogical University, Faculty of Physical Education in Russia.
