Construction firm Vijay fully supports beauty queen’s restoration project |11 July 2015
Vijay Construction (Pty) Ltd will fully sponsor the construction and refurbishment of a children’s playground at the Montagne Posée Prison.
The project, a component of Miss Seychelles…. Another World 2015 Linne Freminot’s ‘Beauty with a purpose’ restoration project, was presented last week to the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in a bid to gain its members’ financial support.
V.J Patel, managing director of Vijay Construction (Pty) Ltd, said the company likes contributing for good cause.
“We were touched by an article published in the Seychelles NATION about the project and we believe when there is something good being done for the community, we’re there to participate. It is not for publicity, but it’s the satisfaction we get out of it as a company,” said Mr Patel.
When Miss Freminot presented the project to the SCCI, she disclosed a breakdown of the material cost for the building of the playground amounting to around R96,000.
The cost to refurbish the playground with children’s toys was not included into the original cost. Vijay Construction (Pty) Ltd said it will also bear the cost of refurbishing the facility.
Mr Patel said his company has financed the construction of three “Gyms” for children at Anse Boileau, Port Glaud and Bel Ombre schools.
He invited Miss Freminot to visit these schools and gain an insight of these projects, to see if the construction materials used to build the gyms and the toys would be adaptable for the children’s playground at Montagne Posée prison.
Ms Freminot, overwhelmed by the support of Vijay Construction (Pty) Ltd, thanked Mr Patel and his team for believing in this project.
“It’s the dream of the children to have this playground and you’ve granted them their wishes,” said Miss Freminot.
The SCCI chairperson Marco Francis, who has given his full for the project, expressed his thanks to Mr Patel for making this project a success.
