Experienced players lead country’s badminton team |30 July 2015

The badminton team for the ninth Indian Ocean Island Games consist of 11 players – five females and six males.
The female competitors are Alisen Camille, Chlorie Cadeau, Cynthia Course, Juliette Ah-Wan and Shirley Etienne.
Fabien Gerry, Georgie Cupidon, Kervin Ghislain, Richie Course, Steve Malcouzane, Nicholas Jumaye are the six male players.
Asked how many gold medals he expects the local badminton players will win in Reunion, Seychelles Badminton Association chairman Tukebana Michel Bau simply said: “The players have the experience and ability to play well. They can win more than one gold medal, but all will depend on them.”
Coach Calix Francourt will be helped by Chinese coach Guo Hui Luo, while Vanessa Créa will also make the trip as judge.
At the last IOIG in Seychelles in 2011, the badminton team won 12 medals – four gold, five silver and three bronze.
The gold medallists were Georgie Cupidon (men’s singles), Georgie Cupidon and Steve Malcouzane (men’s doubles), Cynthia Course (women’s singles) and Cynthia Course and Alisen Camille (women’s doubles).
