Boxing - Trio to leave Sunday for African Champs |14 August 2015

Keven Kilindo, Keddy Agnes and Andrique Allisop make up the Seychelles team for the Africa Boxing Championship slated for Casablanca, Morocco from August 16-25.

The trio will leave on Sunday accompanied by coach Gerry Legras.

The Casablanca extravaganza is a qualifier to the 2015 Aiba World Championship slated for Doha from October 8-17.

Speaking to Sports Nation, Seychelles Boxing Federation treasurer Edmond Folette said the continental competition is very important as three boxers in all the weight categories will qualify for the Aiba World Championship.

"This is a very good opportunity for the three boxers as this year's World Championship in Doha 2015 will serve as a qualifying event for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It means our boxers have to impress in Casablanca,” said Mr Folette.

To prepare for the continental event, Keven Kilindo (91kg), Keddy Agnes (+91kg) won gold medals in their respective weight categories at the recent Indian Ocean Island Games in Reunion, while Sportsman of the Year Allisop was the 60kg silver medallist.
