World’s tallest man is here! |15 February 2016
Sultan Kösen, who holds the Guinness world record for tallest living male, arrived here yesterday morning to be part of the Magic Circus of Samoa.
A Turkish farmer, Mr Kösen stands at 2.53m and was born on December 10, 1982 in Mardin, Turkey.
His growth resulted from a tumour that affected his pituitary gland.
His stature is such that he must use crutches in order to walk.
Mr Kösen is in Seychelles to be part of the Magic Circus of Samoa which will be performing from February 18 until March 21, 2016.
He also holds the current Guinness record for the largest hands at 27.5 cm, and the second largest feet at 36.5 cm (left foot) and 35.5 cm (right foot).
Present at the Seychelles International Airport to meet him yesterday were the principal secretary for tourism Anne Lafortune, Nicole St Ange, ring master of the magic circus Bruno Tupa-i and other members of the delegation.
During a short interview with the press, Mr Tupa-I said Mr Kösen speaks Kurdish and Turkish but is learning English.
“It is wonderful to have him in the circus once again,” he said.
“He is absolutely the most charming, incredibly beautiful warm-hearted person on the face of the earth, he’s just like my son,” added Mr Tupa-i.
This is the second circus that Mr Kösen will be taking part in, the first one was in Tahiti in 2013.
